Digitalisation & Urbanisation

The accelerating digitalisation and AI transformation in society are affecting several aspects of infrastructure development – among other things; we see how global data centres have increasingly been placed in the Nordic region for the so-called FAANG group (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google). The Nordics is an attractive location for data centres because of the climate, electricity access and political stability. The Nordic data centres are used for the companies’ European capacity expansion to meet the increased need for secure data storage and stable data transfer. Eleda’s companies are good at earthworks for these data centres.

Growth is also good in logistics centres, driven by increased capacity for e-commerce, retail, electronics and media, where our companies also do a lot of groundwork.

Another area is fibre-optic cables and networks. This includes connecting households, workplaces, and other facilities, laying new fibre along railways, and maintaining networks of all project sizes.

The Eleda companies, Akeab, Salboheds, JVAB and Mark & Energibyggarna, handle operations in this sector.

Datacenter in Gävle and Sandviken

Salboheds carried out the site work for four 45MW data centres located in Gävle and Sandviken. This project, which took place between 2020 and 2021, involved the management of over 1 million cubic meters of earth and the installation of more than 300,000 meters of pipes. Additionally, the project encompassed road construction and intricate planning to ensure smooth execution.

18MW datacenter in Skåne

Akeab undertook site work for the construction of an 18MW data centre in Skåne between 2019 and 2021 on behalf of an international end customer. The project included the management of more than 300,000 cubic meters of earth, installation of over 60,000 meters of pipe, as well as road construction and site management.
